Our pastor preached his first public sermon on January 28, 2001. On that same date our pulpit became vacant. Per the recommendation of our Moderator, the late Pastor Robert Shepherd, Phillip White was asked to serve as our pulpit conductor until the church was able to select its next pastor.
The body felt that it needed a fresh start and someone who had the best interest of the membership at heart.
Though he was very young in the ministry, the church approached our Pulpit Conductor and asked if he would be interested in serving as our next Pastor. He refused the offer twice.
In June of 2001, Pastor Phillip White, being led by the Holy Spirit, accepted the responsibility of pastoring Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, a small congregation in West Alabama.
Because of the work and blessings of God, our church has seen tremendous growth and we are no longer the small congregation that we were in June of 2001.
"The Olive," as it is commonly referred to, has become a haven for those who are seeking growth.
Pastor White holds degrees in Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and minors in English and Political Science from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; an Associate of Science in Funeral Service from Gupton Jones School of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently enrolled in Birmingham Theological School pursuing his Master of Divinity
Pastor White is married to the former Carla Denise White and they have one daughter Camille Alene.
Pastor and First Lady Carla White help to foster an environment of warmth and peace.
